Wooden Christmas Ornaments
Have Long Been A Classic Christmas Keepsake
This Year, Start A New Tradition Or Continue An Old One
By Buying Ornaments Online And Adding To Your Collection
Take a break from the usual Christmas decor made of clay, glass, or plastic and reinvent this year’s festive tradition by using decorations with a different look and feel. Whether you want an earthy theme, a classic vintage scheme, or just the typical colorful look, this style of decoration will surely help you bring out a special brand of holiday cheer.
Start with your tree, let it stand out with rare holiday collectibles. These kind of ornaments are made from light weight basswood and yellow cedar. They are generally just the right size for your tree. Normally, they are carved, painted, and polished. Some ornaments are distressed and polished with an antique finish while others are smooth to touch and are decorated colorfully.
The choices are as varied as the traditional glass or plastic decorations and the designs and colors are just as bright and lovely, but they are slightly more unique and that can mean they often can hold special memories over time. The designs vary from Christmas scenes to babies first Christmas, to horses, and other animals and everything in between.
The ornaments’ shapes and designs are designed such that they result in a perfect ornament form whether they are hand-made or manufactured another way. The prints and patterns are usually meticulously painted directly on the wood and polished with varnish for a smooth and glossy finish. Because they are made of wood, this kind of Christmas ornament is safe for children and their notoriously curious (or rough) ways.
Yes indeed, these beauties can survive just about anything Junior might want to do to them, and still maintain their beautiful appearance. Because of this, what better objects to be heirloom pieces for a family? A wooden nativity scene would be a good heirloom piece to pass on your children if you’re religious, or maybe you’ll find some other memento to symbolize the things unique to your family. I’d be willing to bet you’d be able to do just that, maybe everyone will want their own!
What makes these ornaments more unique than some of the others on the market today, other than what they’ll come to mean to you, is that you can have them personalized very easily. You could have each of your family member’s portraits painted on a wooden ball ornament. Or you can have a specific carving customized with the year, date, or a short message. Anyone would surely be delighted to receive such a personalized Christmas ornament, as opposed to the next latest and greatest thing that comes a dime a dozen from the big-box mart down the road.
The craftsmanship present in this kind specific kind of Christmas decor is simply amazing. Because they really look good, you can use them in several other ways aside from hanging them on your Christmas tree. Have several wooden Holiday ornaments engraved with the recipient’s name or your message and use it as a gift tag or a gift topper. The recipient will surely be able to cherish such long-lasting wood-carved ornament for years.
Meticulous craftsmanship generally means limited production and no two designs can be perfectly alike. Indeed, it makes wooden Christmas ornaments extra special, the perfect personal keepsake for the gift-giving season.
Check into these special holiday mementos while you still have time. Don’t let another Christmas pass you buy without starting or adding to your collection of wooden Christmas Ornaments.

Every year I like to add a few new unique ornaments to the tree. I’ve never been one to have to have a theme … just want interesting ornaments, many of which may also have memories attached to them.
My dad goes on mission trips to other countries and often brings back doo-dads that are handmade locally. Last year he brought back beaded eggs … a very nice addition to the tree!
I love this type of ornaments to display in the house during christmas. Items that can easily become family heirlooms along with those vintage european style ornaments for the christmas tree.
I have a few very delicate wooden ones handed down from my folks. I like the attention to detail as the mostly hand painted ones must have been tricky to do and assemble. It’s almost time to dig my micro nutcrackers out!
Hi! I just love these wooden Xmas decorations – They are very nostalgic and bring back the memories of when I was little and celebrated xmas with my grandparents in rural New England. Thanks! David
I’ve always stuck with the traditional xmas ornaments. Now that I am a grandmother, I like to do something a little differents (try the wooden orments). I have grandsons. I think they would like the wooden ornaments.
Thanks
Wooden Christmas Ornaments really add to bringing back the nostalgia of the olden Christmas time celebration. Tree toppers can also come in wooden form and add a special touch to your tree!
I like the old fashioned wooden ornaments to, I feel they bring character to the tree. Much nicer to have loads of these on the tree than tinsel which just looks tacky.
Outdoor nativity sets also come in wooden sets, but you need to be careful of the weather and possibly have them protected. I love wooden ornaments as I think they truly depict the older days of Christmas decorating and traditions and are usually hand made, making them even more special!
I picked up some beautiful wood ornaments when I was in the Black Forest in Germany a few years back. The craftsmanship is amazing. And they look great mixed in with my glass balls and multi-colored lights.
